Looking for a fun, enriching way for your child to spend their minimum day afternoons? During the Solana Beach School District's Teacher-Family Conference Weeks (October 26-30, March 8-12, 2026), we're offering special week-long Culinary Arts Camps for children ages 5-11.
Classes meet Monday through Friday from 12:30-2:30 p.m., giving students the opportunity to prepare their own lunch and dessert each day while enjoying creative, food-themed art and educational activities.
Throughout the week, students will build confidence in the kitchen as they learn the fundamental skills used by cooks and bakers. They'll practice measuring, mixing, knife skills using kid-safe tools, baking and cooking techniques, kitchen safety, organization, and teamwork. Along the way, they'll explore ingredients, discover how flavors work together, and learn the science behind the recipes they create.
One of our primary goals is to help children become adventurous, confident eaters. Through hands-on cooking, students are introduced to a wide variety of fresh ingredients, herbs, spices, grains, fruits, and vegetables, encouraging them to explore new flavors and develop an appreciation for foods they may not have tried before.
Each afternoon ends the best way possible: gathered around the table, enjoying the meal they've prepared together. Students head home with full bellies, new skills, and recipes they can recreate with their families.
