In Winter 2026, our classes for 9-12 year olds will meet four times for two hours, from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm, on the following dates: January 24, February 7, March 7, and March 21. The theme for this series is Culinary Foundations & Techniques, where students learn and practice foundational culinary and pastry techniques including knife skills and safe cutting techniques (using kid-safe tools), measuring, baking fundamentals, the science of cooking methods, using kitchen tools and appliances safely, how flavors work together, the importance of organizing and planning in cooking, practicing teamwork and communication in the kitchen, following multi-step directions, strengthening fine motor skills and coordination, and more. In each class, students will make one savory and one sweet dish, providing the opportunity to practice both savory cooking and pastry skills. At the end of each class, students will set the table together and enjoy their homemade dinner (and dessert!) with classmates.
